30+ years of experience. Nationally board-certified.
When choosing an acupuncture practitioner, we know it's important to you to choose a qualified and experienced professional.
Barry Song, L.Ac., Dipl.Ac., a licensed and board certified acupuncture practitioner with three decades of experience, has received a Diplomate of Acupuncture — meaning that he has completed four academic years of education at the master’s degree level in an acupuncture program accredited by the ACAOM.
The ACAOM is the only accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education as the authority for quality education and training in acupuncture.
NCCAOM board certification requires comprehensive training in traditional differential diagnosis and proper treatment methods, standard medical history gathering, safety, ethics, common pharmaceuticals and supplements, recognition of when to refer patients to other health care professionals or consult with other medical practitioners.
Barry has demonstrated his professional competency by passing NCCAOM certification examinations and has met all state licensure requirements.
Licensed vs. "Certified" Acupuncturists
The Diplomate of Acupuncture training and competency verification process sharply contrasts to the acupuncture training of other health care professionals such as physical therapists, chiropractors, or even medical doctors, who typically receive only 100-300 hours of abbreviated training.
These other healthcare professionals, who often carry a C.Ac. (or "Certified Acupuncturist" credential) provide acupuncture by treating a more limited number of points than a board certified, licensed acupuncturist.
